Confidentiality

All our sessions are kept confidential. Our confidentiality has a few exceptions: If we believe, from listening to you carefully that you or a third party is in danger – particularly if that third party is a child, we will inform a suitable person or organisation with your knowledge and hopefully your consent. Also, if you tell us something which makes us complicit in breaking the law I will also need to act appropriately. The issues we have to disclose are:

– acts of terrorism
– money laundering
– anything that goes against the Children Act 1989

Supervision

All our counsellors have regular supervision, with a qualified supervisor. This is a professional and confidential arrangement for the purpose of protecting clients by making Renewal Therapy counsellors accountable for their work. During a supervision session a therapist will also be monitored for case load and assessing the scope of the counsellor’s expertise and experience.

Sessions

Time is important and we will aim to start and finish on time – Sessions will be 50 minutes to 1 hour in duration. Please inform Renewal reception staff on 0121 711 7300 if you think you will be late. For you to get the most out of counselling, it’s important that you commit to attending all planned sessions. All feedback will be valued this enables all counsellors to work more effectively.

Boundaries

Should any therapists meet their clients outside the counselling setting, unless otherwise agreed, we will acknowledge you with a smile and not enter conversation. This is an important element of setting boundaries and will be further agreed with you in your first counselling session. We would always aim to give the highest confidentially to our clients.

Remote Working

Some of our therapists can offer remote working for therapeutic sessions by using online platforms such as Zoom. Let us know if you would like to explore this option.
