Prayer Season 2024 – 18th-20th January

Thank you to all that joined us for Prayer Encounter 2024 – it was amazing to see so many people gather & we had over 200 sign ups (with many more coming through our doors) – and the feedback that you felt the presence of God was very impactful. Keep being faithful and praying throughout the year. Remember, to seek and look to HIM.

Outline

A new year is a new season. It affords much in reflection and hope. However, the first few days of the new year are mostly hyped and then left ungrounded. The rest of January can become drudgery, down beat and a struggle. Most statistics of depression, divorce, suicide, etc hit a peak 2 to 3 weeks into the period. Therefore, to hold prayer as a corporate focus takes the spiritual battle to the enemy, brings light to darkness and allows God’s people to look to HIM. As a result, we set Prayer at this time to maximise and optimise our faith.

Theme

Our prophetic theme for 2024 will be: ’The Plan. There is only a plan ‘A’. What is God saying for Renewal in 2024? God’s plan is revealed through the church. How does that look in 2024? The book of Ephesians declares God’s purpose in all is to use the church to display his wisdom, in all of its rich variety, to the unseen rulers and authorities in heavenly places, in our local reach and all across planet Earth. Paul gives us a picture of a broken world remade, where everything is made new under Christ; humanity, our relationships, our understanding and the ‘body’ we are a part of.

There are key prayers in Ephesians that we will harness for our season of Prayer.

Here at Renewal we want to encourage you towards effective prayer. So often prayer is a last resort but we want to make it the first thing we do in every situation.

“For this reason I kneel before the Father,  from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” – Ephesians 3 (NIV)

Do we need a prayer room?

Many people comment that they feel the presence of God when they enter a prayer room, we are using ‘The Chapel’ at Renewal Solihull for this space. By having this space you can focus on God’s presence without worldly distractions and allow the Holy Spirit to surround you.

Where else can I pray?

Before any day begins, before you go to bed. Before you go to work or school, be at home or out in your neighbourhood. Before you send that text, WhatsApp, Tweet or post any image. Before you eat, drive or travel. When bad things happen, before bad things happen. After the day is over, after we have received that news, after we are made aware of someone else’s life event. In every situation it’s prayer time!

You can pray on the move or in stillness, at home in a favourite place or at the same time every day. You can pray morning, noon or night – whatever works, it is your prayer time. The most important thing is that we set a period and try and keep to it!
